Functions of water

In addition to nutrition and sufficient exercise, water plays a decisive role in our health as well. Water takes on many tasks and functions in our body and in doing so, water should be as pure, free of pollutants and low in minerals as possible in order to fulfill its functions as a means of transport and solvent for our body. Despite its importance, our society hardly thinks about the role of water for our well-being. Many health complaints can already be alleviated by sufficient and balanced water intake in everyday life.

Water in our body

Depending on their age, human beings consist of more than 70% water.
Therefore, water is vital for us humans.

It plays an essential role in our organism. Every chemical reaction and process in the body depends on the presence of water.

The three most important functions of water: solvent, transport and purifier in our body.

In particular, 98% of all metabolic processes in the human body depend on two factors: the quantity and quality of water.

Water is the carrier of life force

In our everyday lives, the important things in life often get lost. Unfortunately, we pay less attention to them than they are really worth.

Our most important element, water, is also one of those unappreciated treasures that play a decisive role in human life.

We forget to drink consciously and thus impair our bodily functions. In case of dehydration, our body always proceeds in the same way: it sets priorities! That is, water is not saved arbitrarily, but our body consciously divides the water and controls measures for rationing. However, exactly these measures affect our well-being and can manifest themselves in various clinical conditions.

Dehydration – the underestimated cause of disease

Fight headaches

Our brain reacts very sensitively to a lack of water and therefore our body sets the priority at the expense of the rest of the body – the brain is given priority for increased blood supply. The arteries dilate and more blood is pumped into the brain. We feel a strong pulsation of the arteries – headaches follow. Dehydration can be caused by too little fluid, alcohol, temperature changes, or overheating of the body. For all these causes, several glasses of water will relieve the pain.

Stabilise blood pressure

High blood pressure is usually attributed to an unhealthy diet and little exercise. In addition, the increase in blood pressure with age is now tolerated as a disease of old age. Not infrequently, however, high blood pressure can also indicate a lack of water in the body. If this water deficiency is not identified as the cause, antihypertensive drugs can not only have little effect, but also cause undesirable side effects.

Enhance concentration

It is confirmed by experts that there is a connection between drinking and performance. Thirsty children and adolescents, but also adults, have therefore more difficulties concentrating if the brain lacks water! The problem, however, is that the thirst sensation of children and adolescents is mostly ignored. It is therefore important to actively control drinking behavior.

Lose weight healthily

Drinking plenty of water helps not only to keep our body fit, to reduce weight, but also to prevent obesity. We often confuse the feeling of thirst, the body’s desire for water, with a feeling of hunger. As a result, our body can misinterpret the signal. The consequence: the less water you consume, the more likely you are to eat more than necessary.

Fight back pain

Often our shock absorbers, the intervertebral discs, are dried out and can thus be the cause of one of the main ailments suffered by Germans. A healthy water balance in the body is therefore essential for flexible and resilient intervertebral discs. Regular consumption of water can either prevent or reduce back pain.

Asthma and allergies

Asthma and various allergies are daily companions for many people. However, what many do not know, chronic dehydration can be the primary cause of allergies and asthma. An adequate intake of water (at best in its natural form) can naturally prevent and support treatment.
